The PG Wodehouse of Malayalam. Or is PG Wodehouse the VKN of English ? May be the later is true ! Vadakkekoottala Narayanan Kutty Nair. He was born on April 6 1932 at Thrirvallwamala in Thrissur District. After metriculation he served as an officer in Malabar Dewaswon board. Later he went to Delhi and spend a good portion of his life as journalist in various news papers. He has written over 25 books. Many of his works have been translated to various languages including english. He received the Kerala Sahitya Acadamy award for his book Arohanam in 1969. His most famous work Payyan Kadhakal received the Kendra Sahitya Acadamy award in 1982. VKN is one of my all time favorite writers.
